Content Writer
Job Description
Questline, Inc., an electronic communications company serving the utility industry, is currently seeking an experienced content writer with the ability to manage multiple writing assignments, including newsletter articles, email marketing, white papers, webinar descriptions, and social media content including blogs and tweets.
Hired candidate must work to continually increase his/her knowledge of the utility industry and its clients to ensure high-quality, accurate, newsletter articles, email copy, and marketing messages.
Responsibilities:
- Adhere to company policies and style guidelines, including set standards regarding clarity, conciseness and terminology
- Research and write content for use in newsletters, emails, social media, white papers, and so on, that will be distributed to gas and electric utilities and/or the manufacturing industry
- Collaborate with in-house writing team and staff engineers to develop content
- Work effectively with other departments to accomplish technical, functional, or organizational goals
- Write and develop copy for email campaigns
- Ensure that all copy maintains consistent tone throughout all communication channels
- Review and update existing documentation for reuse
- Select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and/or charts to accompany text
- Read and research industry publications to stay current with products, technologies, and methods
- Proofread all work
Job Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in communications, journalism, technical writing, or related field
- 3-6 years professional writing experience, including marketing, public relations, or business-related copywriting and proofreading experience
- 3-6 years email marketing/communications experience
- Must be flexible with the ability to interact effectively with all levels in the organization and with clients
- Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team to meet tight deadlines
- Must demonstrate the ability to respond and adapt to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles
- Ability to convert technical knowledge into easily understood terms
- Familiarity with terms and practices in the gas and/or electric utility industry a plus
- Customer-service oriented
- Excellent written- and verbal-communication skills
- Highly motivated; tech savvy and quick to learn new platforms
- MS Office experience
- Provide writing samples, including articles, email marketing, social media snippets, and so on, prior to the interview
